Azerbaijan emphasized its green energy transition during the 23rd Doha International Forum. Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev highlighted the country’s climate leadership and progress in alternative energy adoption.
The forum took place in Doha, Qatar, from December 6 to 8. It gathered global leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss climate diplomacy and sustainable development strategies.
Rzayev addressed a panel on environmental policy, energy transition, and regional climate collaboration. He highlighted Azerbaijan’s achievements during its COP29 chairmanship and contributions to COP30 in Brazil last November.
He also discussed ongoing initiatives within the “COP Trio” climate diplomacy framework. This platform strengthens international cooperation and promotes effective climate action among member countries.
During his visit, Rzayev met with Lusail University leadership and faculty. He also held discussions with officials from the International Center for Political Studies in Qatar.
The meetings focused on Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, bilateral partnerships, and engagement with international organizations. They also emphasized restoring sovereignty, territorial integrity, and normalizing relations with Armenia.
Rzayev underlined cooperation between Azerbaijan and Qatar in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks. He highlighted opportunities for sustainable development, economic collaboration, and green energy initiatives.
Experts say Azerbaijan’s green energy transition strengthens its global reputation. The country is integrating renewable energy projects, investing in alternative power, and advancing policies that reduce carbon emissions.
Authorities plan to expand regional partnerships in clean energy. They aim to use international forums and academic collaborations to drive sustainable initiatives and strengthen energy security.
Rzayev concluded that strategic investment in renewable energy and international engagement is vital. Green energy transition guides policy, shapes development, and positions Azerbaijan as a regional hub for sustainability.
The forum also provided a platform for Azerbaijan to share best practices with regional partners. Officials exchanged insights on renewable energy technologies, financing mechanisms, and policy frameworks to accelerate sustainable development.
Looking ahead, Azerbaijan plans to launch new initiatives supporting green energy transition. These efforts will focus on expanding solar, wind, and hydrogen projects, while fostering public-private partnerships to enhance climate resilience and economic growth.
