Qatar Launches Aim Beyond to Empower Global Youth

Qatar has officially launched the Aim Beyond Project to empower youth and underserved communities worldwide. Moreover, the initiative focuses on leveraging sport to drive sustainable development, social cohesion, and opportunities for young people. The Aim Beyond Project highlights Qatar’s strong commitment to using athletics as a transformative tool.

The announcement occurred during the Doha Forum from December 6 to 8, 2025. During the event, Qatar Olympic Committee Secretary General H E Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain and Qatar Fund for Development Director General Fahad Hamad Al-Sulaiti signed the project agreement. Additionally, World Athletics CEO Jon Ridgeon attended the signing ceremony, showing international support for the initiative.

As part of the project, 11 state-of-the-art, eco-friendly, and inclusive running tracks will be built across 11 countries. These nations include Palestine, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Cook Islands, Panama, Anguilla, Dominica, Burundi, Tanzania, and Ukraine. Furthermore, each track will accommodate athletes with disabilities while using sustainable construction materials.

The Aim Beyond Project aims to serve as community hubs that inspire young athletes. In addition, these facilities will promote sporting excellence, strengthen community bonds, and provide safe spaces for physical and social development. Therefore, the initiative seeks to extend Qatar’s athletics legacy beyond borders and create tangible opportunities for youth.

Secretary General Al Buenain said the project aims to help every aspiring athlete reach their full potential. He added that the Doha 2019 World Athletics Championships inspired the initiative. Consequently, the project reflects Qatar’s dedication to global sporting development and youth empowerment.

Director General Al-Sulaiti emphasized that the project goes beyond building facilities. Indeed, it aims to create pathways for young people to develop talent, enhance skills, and achieve sustainable futures. He noted that sport serves as a catalyst for human development and societal progress.

World Athletics CEO Ridgeon stated that many communities have talent but lack facilities. Hence, the Aim Beyond Project addresses this gap by providing accessible tracks. Moreover, he praised Qatar’s strategic partnerships and leadership in promoting athletics and inspiring global youth.

Looking ahead, the project will expand its impact by fostering collaborations between governments, sports organizations, and local communities. Ultimately, authorities hope it strengthens youth engagement, builds regional networks, and promotes a culture of inclusion and resilience globally.
