Lumotion Studio Transforms Saudi Museums

Lumotion Studio is transforming Saudi Arabia’s cultural scene by implementing immersive technology in museums, aligning with the national Vision 2030 goals. The studio focuses on blending digital storytelling with real-world engagement, creating interactive spaces in Tabuk and Al Jouf.

In Tabuk, the Interactive Museum project fuses technology with culture, attracting visitors of all ages. Collaborating with Samaya Investment Company and the Ministry of Tourism and National Heritage, Lumotion Studio installed several high-tech experiences. The Interactive Digital Book allows visitors to “turn” virtual pages using hand gestures. Additionally, the Interactive Wall responds in real time to user interactions on a large touchscreen.

The museum also features an Interactive Sandbox, where white sand serves as a projection screen enhanced with depth sensors and topographic mapping. A 3D Mapped Wall and 360° Video Show combine Epson projection mapping with panoramic visuals, immersing visitors in Saudi heritage.

Similarly, the Interactive Museum Al Jouf covers 1,200 m² in the historic Dumat Al-Jandal province. Here, Lumotion Studio implemented advanced spatial tracking using Microsoft Kinect sensors and RPLiDAR A3M1 360° laser scanners. These tools enable gesture-based interaction and precise visitor movement tracking.

Key installations include an interactive wall, digital tables with multimedia content, another interactive sandbox, and a 3D mapping wall paired with a 360° video show. Together, these experiences create engaging, educational, and memorable interactions.

The projects deliver multiple benefits. Educationally, they transform visitors into active participants, increasing information retention through gamified, sensor-based interactions. Moreover, they enhance tourism by positioning Tabuk and Al Jouf as next-generation destinations, supporting the Kingdom’s economic diversification efforts. The immersive installations also preserve heritage, presenting traditional culture in a format that resonates with younger generations.

Tony Tertyschnyk, CEO of Lumotion Studio, highlighted the significance of these initiatives: “By merging technology with storytelling, we push the boundaries of what museums can achieve. Immersive technology allows visitors to explore history in unprecedented ways, forging deeper connections with cultural heritage.”

The success of these projects demonstrates how immersive technology can modernize museum experiences, promote tourism, and strengthen cultural preservation, while actively supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives.
