Saudi Arabia Strengthens Power Ties with Pakistan

Saudi Arabia has approved a memorandum of understanding with Pakistan to expand electricity sector cooperation. Consequently, Saudi Pakistan Energy relations are set to deepen further.

The cabinet, chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, approved the MoU under the Economic Cooperation Framework signed last October. In addition, the agreement focuses on electrical interconnection, trade, and sustainable energy projects.

Officials said electricity cooperation is a critical pillar for regional connectivity and long-term infrastructure development. Furthermore, the MoU will support joint projects in power generation and grid integration.

Meanwhile, the cabinet meeting also reviewed regional and international developments, with particular focus on the Gaza Strip. The officials welcomed the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan and the work of the Palestinian National Committee.

They emphasized that the Palestinian Authority should resume its responsibilities in Gaza. Moreover, they stressed the importance of lasting peace and the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid.

Saudi ministers also highlighted international peace efforts, including the recently announced Board of Peace initiative led by Donald Trump. Similarly, they praised the ceasefire agreement in Syria as a positive step toward regional stability.

King Salman chaired the cabinet session just days after his medical examination, demonstrating continuity in governance and leadership.

Separately, the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed sorrow over the deadly fire at Karachi’s Gul Plaza. It confirmed that 27 people lost their lives and offered condolences to the bereaved families. Additionally, it extended prayers for the injured and safety wishes to all Pakistanis.

Analysts noted that the power sector MoU reflects growing energy cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Furthermore, it could pave the way for additional joint projects, investment flows, and technology transfers.

Therefore, Saudi Pakistan Energy collaboration strengthens the economic partnership while also supporting strategic regional objectives. In addition, both countries aim to implement joint electricity and infrastructure initiatives quickly.

Finally, the MoU underscores Riyadh and Islamabad’s commitment to sustainable energy development. Consequently, Saudi Pakistan Energy relations are expected to play an increasing role in regional integration and long-term economic planning.
