Saudi Arabia’s Maaden successfully raised $1 billion through a 10-year international sukuk offering, strengthening its financial flexibility. The Maaden sukuk attracted qualified investors from the Kingdom and abroad.
The sukuk issuance, announced on Sunday via the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul), follows the company’s January 22 notice regarding the subscription launch. Investor response was strong, reflecting confidence in Maaden’s solvency and Saudi Arabia’s mining sector as a pillar of Vision 2030.
Maaden issued 5,000 sukuk, each with a nominal value of $200,000. The sukuk carries an annual yield of 5.25 percent and matures in 10 years, demonstrating Maaden’s ability to secure long-term financing at competitive rates.
The sukuk will be listed on the International Securities Market of the London Stock Exchange. The sale adheres to international standards, including Regulation S and Rule 144A of the US Securities Act of 1933, ensuring wide global investor participation.
Maaden also outlined redemption terms, which allow pre-defined conditions for early repayment, as specified in the offering documents. This structure balances investor security with Maaden’s financial strategy.
The company emphasized that the offering supports its ongoing growth, expansion, and portfolio diversification within and outside Saudi Arabia. The sukuk proceeds will enhance liquidity, fund strategic projects, and strengthen financial resilience.
Experts note that the issuance highlights the international community’s confidence in Saudi mining, which plays a critical role in diversifying the economy beyond oil. Moreover, long-term sukuk financing helps Maaden manage capital efficiently while pursuing large-scale mining projects.
Analysts expect the successful sukuk placement to pave the way for further international offerings, supporting Maaden’s medium- and long-term strategic goals. The move also signals Saudi Arabia’s growing presence in global capital markets.
In conclusion, with Vision 2030 driving economic diversification, the Maaden sukuk highlights how structured Islamic finance instruments can effectively fund industrial expansion and attract global investors.
