Qatar is taking a major step toward smarter government services with the launch of its AI Agent Factory initiative, designed to speed up processes and cut bureaucracy. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry partnered with Microsoft to introduce the platform, which will deploy artificial intelligence across public institutions.
Qatar announced the initiative on Friday, describing it as one of the country’s most ambitious digital transformation projects to date. The platform allows government entities to design, develop, and deploy AI agents quickly. These agents automate tasks such as application processing, service requests, and citizen inquiries.
Qatar aims to reduce bureaucratic delays through the AI Agent Factory Qatar platform. Traditionally, government IT projects required long development cycles. However, the new system enables faster deployment without disrupting existing digital infrastructure.
Moreover, the platform operates on Microsoft’s advanced technology stack. It integrates smoothly with existing government systems while supporting the rollout of new AI-powered services across multiple ministries.
Ahmed al-Kuwari, director of the Information Systems Department at the ministry, described the launch as a turning point. He said the platform strengthens automation efforts and improves service quality. In addition, it supports smarter decision-making across government operations.
Meanwhile, the initiative builds on Qatar’s broader artificial intelligence strategy. Several ministries have already introduced automated document-processing tools. Others use predictive analytics to anticipate citizen needs before requests arise.
In parallel, the government has invested heavily in AI governance and workforce development. Training programmes now help civil servants work effectively with intelligent systems. For example, the Ministry of Transport and Communications continues to test AI-driven traffic management tools.
Similarly, the Ministry of Public Health uses machine-learning systems to reduce appointment wait times. These tools improve scheduling efficiency and patient flow across healthcare facilities.
Importantly, officials say the AI Agent Factory Qatar initiative goes beyond technical upgrades. Instead, it aims to unify government services into a single, seamless user experience. As a result, citizens and businesses can expect more consistent service delivery.
Ahmed Dandashi, general manager of Microsoft Qatar, said the partnership accelerates digital transformation. He added that the platform delivers sustainable value for institutions, businesses, and society.
Looking ahead, the ministry plans to expand the platform once regulatory and technical frameworks are complete. Future upgrades will align with Qatar National Vision 2030.
Finally, the move reflects growing regional competition, as Gulf nations, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia, continue to invest heavily in artificial intelligence leadership.
