Oman and Afghanistan are exploring new ways to boost their economic cooperation. On March 13, 2025, Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Oman’s Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, met with Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, to discuss opportunities for closer economic relations.
The two officials talked about ways to improve trade and investment between the two countries. They focused on identifying new sectors where cooperation could thrive. Key topics included enhancing the business environment, making trade procedures more efficient, and finding methods to attract more investments.
Both sides also emphasized the importance of supporting initiatives that strengthen their economic ties. They agreed that increasing the volume of trade between Oman and Afghanistan would be a priority moving forward. In addition, the Omani government presented Afghanistan’s delegation with a tour of the “Invest Oman” lounge, which showcases the country’s key investment opportunities in various sectors.
This meeting reflects the growing interest of both nations in building a mutually beneficial economic relationship.
