Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia Expand Manpower Cooperation and Skilled Worker Recruitment

Manpower cooperation between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia is expanding as both countries explore new opportunities for labor collaboration. Officials discussed increasing worker recruitment and improving skill recognition during a high-level meeting in Geneva.

Bangladesh’s Expatriates’ Welfare Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury met Saudi Vice-Minister Dr Tariq bin Abdul Aziz on the sidelines of the International Labour Organization governing body session. The meeting addressed workforce needs and strengthened bilateral labor relations.

During the talks, Bangladesh urged Saudi Arabia to recruit more workers. Officials also stressed the need to recognize skills developed in Bangladesh. Therefore, both sides aim to create more opportunities for skilled labor migration.

Several senior officials attended the meeting, including Mahdi Amin, Md Abdur Rahman Tarafder, and Ambassador Nahida Sobhan. Their participation showed the importance of the discussions at the national level.

The minister conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to Saudi leadership. Moreover, he thanked the Kingdom for protecting Bangladeshi workers during recent regional tensions.

Saudi officials expressed readiness to recruit more skilled workers from Bangladesh. They recognized the strong contribution of Bangladeshi labor to national development. As a result, both countries see clear potential for deeper cooperation.

Furthermore, both sides agreed to strengthen skills development. They will upgrade technical training centers and expand Arabic language programs. Consequently, workers will gain better preparation for employment in Saudi Arabia.

The meeting also highlighted efforts to improve workforce quality. Both countries aim to meet evolving labor market demands through better training systems. Therefore, manpower cooperation will extend beyond recruitment into long-term development.

Saudi Arabia invited the Bangladeshi minister for an official visit. This step will help deepen bilateral ties and finalize future agreements. As a result, cooperation will likely grow in the coming months.
