The UAE’s Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has launched a series of humanitarian projects in Yemen’s Hadhramaut Governorate during Ramadan. These efforts aim to support vulnerable families and foster community cooperation. The ERC is providing crucial food aid and ensuring that people in need are assisted throughout the holy month.
As part of these efforts, the ERC has already distributed 3,130 food baskets. These baskets are part of a larger goal to distribute 8,000 Ramadan food baskets in Hadhramaut. This initiative will help approximately 40,000 individuals in the region. The ERC plans to continue the distribution of food baskets in the coming days to meet the needs of more families.
In addition to food baskets, the ERC has also been providing iftar meals to fasting individuals. The organization has distributed 11,778 meals so far, with a target of 20,000 meals. Furthermore, the ERC has provided 5,857 pre-iftar snack meals, with plans to distribute a total of 9,548 meals. These meals are shared at 26 designated locations, bringing much-needed relief and joy to the people in Hadhramaut.
Hamid Rashid Al Shamsi, the ERC’s representative in the region, emphasized the importance of these efforts in reaching the most vulnerable communities. He also highlighted the value of involving the local community in these projects, strengthening social solidarity. Al Shamsi expressed his gratitude to everyone who has supported these projects, particularly those in the UAE who contributed to the cause.
