UAE Investment in India Could Rise by $25 billion as Trade and Energy Ties Expand

UAE investment in India could increase by another $25 billion as both countries expand economic ties. The announcement follows a meeting between officials from both countries in Mumbai. The discussions focused on investment, trade, energy, technology, logistics, and food security. India and the UAE also aim to increase bilateral trade substantially by 2032.

Officials said existing cooperation provides a foundation for further economic expansion. The two countries have already developed strong commercial links across several sectors. Their partnership also includes a comprehensive economic partnership agreement. That agreement supports trade and investment between the two markets.

India’s commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said the UAE has already invested $25 billion. He said the UAE has indicated another $25 billion investment in the near future. The comments followed the 14th meeting of the India-UAE investment task force. The meeting brought officials together to discuss future investment opportunities.

Meanwhile, both sides continue to explore additional areas for cooperation. These areas include energy, logistics, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. They also include digital commerce and private-sector partnerships. As a result, officials expect economic cooperation to cover more industries in the coming years.

Energy cooperation formed another important part of the discussions. India and the UAE are considering cooperation involving strategic petroleum reserves. Officials also discussed the possible construction of subsea gas pipelines. Furthermore, India is exploring greater access to energy supplies from the UAE.

Potential supplies could include liquefied petroleum gas and liquefied natural gas. The discussions could therefore create additional opportunities within the energy sector. At the same time, both countries are examining ways to strengthen energy security. These plans could support their wider economic relationship and future trade growth.

Trade between India and the UAE has already reached $100 billion. Both countries have set a target of $200 billion by 2032. Therefore, investment plans could support the wider expansion of bilateral commerce. The two countries also continue to build on their existing trade agreement. Their economic partnership agreement has helped create closer commercial links.

Meanwhile, non-oil trade continues to form an important part of the relationship. UAE officials said bilateral non-oil trade reached $76 billion in 2025. That figure represented a 17 percent increase from the previous year.

In addition, officials discussed cooperation in logistics and digital commerce. Artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies also remain areas of interest. Food security and services trade featured in the latest discussions as well. The UAE also wants to encourage greater private-sector participation. Therefore, companies could play a larger role in future bilateral projects. Both governments are also working to accelerate existing economic initiatives. These efforts could create opportunities across several industries and investment markets.

The latest discussions highlight the growing scale of UAE investment in India. The proposed additional funding could expand the UAE’s economic presence there. At the same time, India offers a large market for UAE companies and investors. Both governments continue to seek opportunities that can support long-term economic growth.

The focus now extends beyond traditional trade and investment. Energy, technology, logistics, digital services, and food security are also gaining attention. Consequently, the partnership could cover a broader range of economic activities in the coming years.

The two countries are now working toward their longer-term trade target. Reaching $200 billion by 2032 would require continued growth across multiple sectors. Investment could support that expansion alongside stronger private-sector cooperation. Meanwhile, ongoing discussions could produce new projects and commercial agreements. The latest meeting therefore signals continued momentum in UAE investment and India-UAE economic cooperation.
