QNB Raises QR750 Million From Japanese Investors in Largest Riyal-Denominated Shogun Bond

QNB Group has raised QR750 million from Japanese investors through a three-year Shogun bond, the largest Qatari riyal-denominated issue of its kind to date, the Qatar News Agency reported on Thursday.

The bank disclosed the completed deal in a statement published on the Qatar Stock Exchange website.

It is QNB’s second Shogun bond in Qatari riyals. The first was issued in the first quarter of 2025.

A Shogun bond is sold in Japan by a foreign issuer and denominated in a currency other than the yen.

QNB said the notes were placed with a diversified base of Japanese investors.

The bank said the transaction supports its strategy to diversify funding sources and broaden its access to Japanese investors.

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation was mandated to arrange the issuance.

The statement as reported did not give the coupon or pricing on the notes.
