According to Arjun Chadha, Country Manager for Oman Tourism in India, the goal is to build a loyal base of clients who frequently host events in Oman.
In 2023, nearly six lakh Indians visited Oman. This number is expected to grow as Oman continues its efforts to attract more visitors from India. The “A Journey to Explore Oman” campaign, launched in 2023, is part of these efforts. The campaign’s goal is to increase Indian tourist arrivals to seven lakh by 2024.
Oman offers a variety of landscapes and venues that appeal to Indian tourists. Muscat, the vibrant capital, is famous for its rich culture and history. Salalah attracts visitors with its lush greenery and beautiful waterfalls. Jabal Akhdar, known for its scenic mountains and valleys, offers a different experience. These diverse regions provide ideal settings for both corporate events and weddings.
In 2024, Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism identified India as a key market for tourism. Oman’s proximity to India, streamlined visa processes, and targeted promotional efforts help make it an attractive destination. Oman Tourism is actively promoting the country in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
Oman is also focusing on providing high-quality venues for events and weddings. The Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton hotel in Muscat, is popular for destination weddings. Many Indian couples have already chosen this venue, and the trend is expected to grow. Additionally, Salalah is an excellent location for corporate meetings and celebrations. Muscat’s proximity to Dubai further enhances its appeal to Indian travelers.
