Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi investment firm, has joined Dubai Holding to invest in Nord Anglia, a UK-based international education group. Mubadala acquired a $600 million stake, signaling the UAE’s growing interest in global education assets.

Dubai Holding confirmed its role in the consortium that completed the acquisition. The deal values Nord Anglia Education at $14.5 billion. It also includes major investors like EQT, Neuberger Berman, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, and Corporación Financiera Alba.

Nord Anglia operates more than 80 schools in 33 countries, including four in the UAE. The investment further strengthens the UAE’s footprint in global education.

Alvin Teh, Head of Consumer at Mubadala, noted that the increasing demand for high-quality education, along with Nord Anglia’s focus on personalized learning, made the deal a compelling opportunity.

Over 90,000 students, aged 2 to 18, attend Nord Anglia’s schools. Many graduates gain admission to the world’s top universities, showcasing the success of Nord Anglia’s educational model.

The UAE’s involvement in this deal is part of a broader strategy to invest in resilient and long-term sectors. Education, seen as essential and stable, has become a priority for Gulf investors.

With both Mubadala and Dubai Holding involved, the UAE is increasing its influence in global education.
