Muscat continues to deepen diplomatic partnerships by focusing on France-GCC ties. A high-ranking French Senate delegation visited Oman to strengthen cooperation with the Gulf region. The delegation represented the France-GCC Parliamentary Friendship Group, led by Olivier Cadec.
Upon arrival, the visitors received a warm welcome at Oman’s State Council. Salim Musallam Qutn, Deputy Chairman of the Council, greeted the group. Shortly after, discussions began on building stronger relations and exchanging legislative experiences. These discussions aimed to further reinforce France-GCC ties through collaborative initiatives.
Moreover, the meeting included the Secretary General and several members of the State Council. These officials joined to explain the Council’s functions and its role in Oman’s legal system. As a result, the guests gained a clear understanding of how the Council contributes to national governance—an insight that supports deeper France-GCC ties.
Furthermore, Salim Musallam Qutn shared details about Oman’s decision-making process. He explained how the Council reviews laws, consults on key policies, and supports national development. In response, the French delegation expressed deep appreciation for Oman’s transparent and balanced approach, which aligns well with the spirit of France-GCC ties.
In addition, the two sides explored mutual interests and cooperation opportunities. For example, they discussed collaboration in education, cultural exchange, and sustainable development. These conversations helped both sides see the benefits of continued dialogue and exchange that can enhance long-term France-GCC ties.
Importantly, both sides recognized the need to deepen cooperation between France and the GCC through ongoing engagement. Omani officials acknowledged France’s efforts in encouraging dialogue throughout the Gulf, while the French delegation commended Oman’s openness and dedication to global partnerships.
Throughout the visit, the atmosphere remained positive and productive. The delegation toured the Council’s headquarters and observed its modern facilities. They also learned how Council members help shape legislation, which strengthened their interest in legislative collaboration between France and the GCC.
Consequently, the French guests left with a deeper respect for Oman’s political system. They saw firsthand how the State Council balances tradition and modern governance. Olivier Cadec emphasized the value of building strong France-GCC ties, especially during global challenges.
Before leaving, the delegation and Omani leaders discussed future visits and cooperative programs. Both sides agreed to maintain communication and work together on shared goals. Therefore, the meeting marked not only a diplomatic milestone but also a practical step forward in strengthening relations between France and the GCC region.
Oman remains committed to building friendships that support peace, dialogue, and growth. By hosting this visit, the State Council reaffirmed its focus on meaningful partnerships. Strengthening France-GCC ties continues to be a priority in Oman’s international strategy.
