Emirati talent growth took center stage as the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council marked the fourth anniversary of Nafis on Monday. The program, launched in September 2021 under the “Projects of the 50” initiative, continues to strengthen citizens’ presence in the private sector. Officials emphasized its contribution to preparing the national workforce for future economic demands. They also highlighted its role in advancing the UAE’s long-term economic vision. The anniversary underscored Nafis as a cornerstone for sustainable workforce development.

Since its inception, Nafis has driven remarkable progress in private-sector employment for nationals. More than 152,000 Emiratis now work in private companies, with 134,000 joining since 2021. This expansion spans 29,000 establishments across multiple industries. Moreover, the initiative has raised Emiratization rates in healthcare, manufacturing, and technology. Officials stressed that sustained Emirati talent growth depends on continued collaboration between government and business.

Nafis offers a broad portfolio of programs to foster skills and secure long-term employment. Its salary support initiative provides allowances based on qualifications and income, helping citizens thrive in competitive fields. Other schemes include pension contribution assistance, temporary income support, and child allowances. These measures aim to reduce costs for both employees and employers, encouraging firms to hire and retain national staff. Consequently, the private sector has become increasingly attractive for young professionals.

Training and development remain key pillars of the platform. The Kafa’at initiative has prepared over 3,000 citizens for high-demand careers. Likewise, the Healthcare Talent Development Program has trained another 3,000 Emiratis, including 350 graduates in medical fields. Career counseling services have delivered 55,000 one-on-one sessions and hosted 175 workshops for 600 companies. Through partnerships, the Khibrat and On-the-Job Training programs continue to sharpen professional skills. Officials said these efforts ensure steady Emirati talent growth.

Leadership and international exposure also feature prominently in Nafis strategies. The Leadership Program, developed with the UAE Government Leadership Program, nurtures future private-sector executives. Meanwhile, the International Program gives participants access to global companies for up to six months. Furthermore, the Musan’een initiative equips nationals for advanced roles in industry and technology. Together, these programs broaden opportunities for ambitious professionals.

The Nafis digital platform further connects jobseekers and employers. It hosts over 80,000 vacancies and offers detailed program guidance. Users can explore training paths, check eligibility requirements, and apply for targeted support. Employers benefit from direct access to qualified candidates and streamlined recruitment tools. By linking skills with opportunities, the platform sustains Emirati talent growth across vital industries.

Looking ahead, the council pledged to maintain momentum and adapt to shifting market needs. Officials stressed that fostering innovation and competitiveness requires continuous investment in human capital. They noted that Nafis remains central to building a resilient, knowledge-driven economy. Analysts expect the program’s impact to deepen as more firms embrace Emiratization goals.
