Kazakhstan and Oman are advancing plans to create a transit-transport corridor through Iran, aiming to diversify trade routes and strengthen bilateral commerce. The project gained momentum during a high-level meeting between Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Oman, Aidarbek Tumatov, and Abdulrahman Al-Hatmi, Director-General of Oman’s Asyad Group.
During the talks, the officials discussed ways to enhance logistics cooperation and expand foreign trade. In particular, they focused on developing a corridor across Iranian territory to connect Central Asia and the Arabian Peninsula directly. Additionally, both sides explored forming a joint Kazakh-Omani logistics company to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
According to sources, the Omani delegation expressed strong interest in the Kazakh proposals. Consequently, the meeting concluded with a commitment to maintain working-level contacts and advance the transport plans. Furthermore, the first session of the Kazakhstan-Oman Intergovernmental Commission in December 2025 will formally present the corridor for implementation.
Asyad Group, Oman’s integrated logistics provider, ranks fourth on Forbes’ list of the largest logistics companies in the Middle East and North Africa. Moreover, the company operates three deep-water ports and one dry port, all supported by modern high-capacity infrastructure. This demonstrates Oman’s dedication to enhancing trade and regional logistics.
Importantly, the corridor will shorten transit times for goods between Central Asia and the Gulf. Experts also predict that the project will attract foreign investment, create jobs, and increase trade volumes for both nations.
In addition, Kazakhstan and Oman plan to deploy digital logistics platforms to monitor and optimize cargo movement. These systems will improve transparency, secure transport, and position both countries as leaders in modern, connected trade.
By connecting regional markets, the corridor reflects both nations’ vision to diversify trade, strengthen economic ties, and promote long-term regional growth. Ultimately, the project is set to become a model for international transport collaboration in the Middle East and Central Asia.
