Saudi Vision 2030 Progress Reviewed as Council Examines Economic Reports

Vision 2030 progress took center stage as the Council of Economic and Development Affairs met to review a wide set of economic and strategic reports. The session, held via video conference, emphasized the Kingdom’s steady economic diversification and national development momentum.

During the meeting, the council examined the Ministry of Economy and Planning’s periodic report. The document assessed global trade forecasts for 2025, performance trends in major economies, and external challenges affecting the Kingdom. It confirmed that Saudi Arabia’s economy remains resilient, with non-oil activities now representing 56 percent of gross domestic product.

The report also pointed to strong private-sector growth, reflecting the expanding role of businesses in driving sustainable development. Officials highlighted that these gains align directly with Vision 2030 progress, which continues to prioritize diversification and employment creation.

The council further reviewed a quarterly update from the Strategic Management Office. This update tracked Vision 2030 realization programs and national strategies during the second quarter. It showcased achievements across national plans and key indicators, while stressing ongoing work under Vision 2030’s pillars: a vibrant society, a thriving economy, and an ambitious nation.

Additionally, the council received a performance review from the National Center for Performance Measurement, known as Adaa. The report included data on government agency effectiveness, beneficiary satisfaction with services, and overall results of national strategies. Adaa’s findings underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in achieving long-term development goals.

The session also featured a joint presentation by the Saudi Halal Center and the Halal Products Development Co. Presenters highlighted the sector’s size, achievements, and development pathways, while proposing solutions to address existing challenges. The halal industry continues to expand as a strategic contributor to Saudi Arabia’s global positioning.

Moreover, the council evaluated reports from the National Center for Privatization and PPP, as well as updates from the Quality of Life Program Center and the Digital Content Council. These reviews detailed supervisory committee work and progress across key national initiatives.

Other agenda items included updates on unified Gulf Cooperation Council rules to empower persons with disabilities, along with initiatives in intellectual property covering patents, plant varieties, utility models, and design systems.

The council also received the annual report of the Citizen Account Program. Leaders reviewed executive summaries on GDP, foreign trade, consumer prices, wholesale prices, and national accounts. These reports offered a comprehensive overview of the Kingdom’s economic indicators.

By the end of the session, the council adopted several decisions and recommendations. Officials emphasized that Vision 2030 progress remains a guiding framework, ensuring sustained growth, improved services, and stronger international competitiveness.
