Kuwaiti investments in Türkiye have exceeded $2 billion, highlighting the strength of economic ties between the two countries. The growth underscores increased collaboration across trade, finance, and technology sectors.
Ambassador of Türkiye to Kuwait, Tuba Nur Sonmez, announced that 427 Kuwaiti companies are currently operating in Türkiye. The ambassador made the remarks during a reception marking the visit of Ahmet Burak Daglioglu, Head of the Investment and Finance Office at the Turkish Presidency.
Sonmez emphasized that the leadership of both nations prioritizes strengthening bilateral relations. She noted that relations gained momentum following the visit of Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Türkiye last year. During that visit, Ankara and Kuwait signed agreements covering trade, defense, and investment cooperation.
The ambassador highlighted that partnerships now span sectors including trade, tourism, defense, and investment. She pointed out that recent trade volume reached approximately $700 million in 2024, reflecting a growing economic connection. She added that the figures do not fully reflect the depth of business relationships, urging stronger links between Kuwaiti and Turkish firms.
Meanwhile, Ahmet Burak Daglioglu explained that his visit aimed to meet investors, explore sector opportunities, and encourage new capital inflows into Türkiye. He noted that the Investment Office actively supports most Kuwaiti companies operating in Türkiye and helps entrepreneurs navigate bureaucratic requirements.
Daglioglu also stressed new investment opportunities in insurance, technology, and financial services. He emphasized the importance of Islamic finance and supporting Kuwaiti youth in establishing tech ventures, leveraging Türkiye’s advanced digital infrastructure.
Officials highlighted that Kuwaits investments strengthen bilateral relations and open pathways for further economic growth. They noted that ongoing collaboration reflects a shared commitment to long-term trade and investment partnerships.
Looking ahead, both countries aim to deepen dialogue, build new business bridges, and encourage strategic projects. Analysts expect Kuwaiti investors to continue expanding into Türkiye, particularly in high-growth sectors such as technology, finance, and digital services.
The success of these efforts demonstrates that kuwaiti investments are increasingly pivotal in shaping regional economic development and fostering sustainable international partnerships.
