Agriculture Pakistan and Qatar set to strengthen agricultural cooperation

Pakistan and Qatar are preparing to deepen their agricultural ties. Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain met Qatari Ambassador Ali bin Mubarak Al Khater on October 23, 2025, in Islamabad. They discussed ways to expand bilateral agri-cooperation and strengthen economic partnerships.

To begin with, Pakistan emphasized its strong brotherly relations with Qatar. Minister Hussain said the countries share trust and common values. Moreover, he noted Pakistan could supply halal meat, fruits, vegetables, rice, and animal feed to Qatar. Currently, exports remain below competitors such as India. Therefore, improving trade will benefit both nations.

The minister highlighted government efforts to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and improve the investment climate. He proposed creating a Joint Working Group on Agriculture. This group will identify priority projects and structure cooperation effectively. Additionally, it will explore new investment opportunities for Qatari investors.

Hussain also briefed the ambassador on Pakistan’s innovative agri-projects. These include dry camel milk production, already exported to the US and China. Saudi Arabia is also interested. He mentioned investment-ready ventures such as Rhodes grass cultivation and industrial-scale feedlot fattening farms. Consequently, Qatar can enhance its food and feed security under Vision 2030.

Ambassador Al Khater praised Pakistan’s agricultural potential and skilled workforce. He emphasized their role in securing Qatar’s food supply. Furthermore, he confirmed the Qatari Minister of Commerce will visit Pakistan soon. This visit aims to accelerate cooperation and strengthen partnerships in strategic agricultural sectors.

The meeting reflected both nations’ commitment to sustainable growth. Pakistan seeks to leverage its agricultural expertise to meet regional demands. Meanwhile, Qatar aims to secure reliable food imports. Together, the partnership promises mutual benefits and long-term economic gains.

This initiative supports Qatar’s Vision 2030 goals. Moreover, it strengthens Pakistan-Qatar trade relations and fosters investment opportunities in agriculture. Both sides committed to continuous dialogue and close coordination for smooth implementation.
