Kuwait Oil Company Drives Operational Excellence and Secures Energy Future

Kuwait Oil Company achieves record oil and gas production, advances offshore exploration, and strengthens digital transformation. KOC empowers Kuwait’s energy future with innovation, sustainability, and skilled workforce development.

Kuwait Oil Company continues to shape Kuwait’s energy future by achieving operational excellence, pioneering innovation, and developing a skilled workforce. Consequently, the company reinforces its role as a cornerstone of national progress and global energy security.

Through disciplined execution and advanced field management, Kuwait Oil Company sustained production capacity above 2.675 MMbopd. In January 2024, KOC completed polymer pumping in Umm Niqa’s Lower Fars reservoir. As a result, the project increased oil output, enhanced reserves, improved production sustainability, and reduced water cut.

Meanwhile, the company drilled over 540 new wells and conducted more than 2,000 workover operations, reducing the backlog to just 5% of producing wells. Therefore, KOC meets international benchmarks and maximizes asset uptime while maintaining reservoir productivity.

Moreover, KOC strengthened gas production, delivering free gas exceeding 635 MMscfd and total output surpassing 2 Bscfd. By reducing flaring to 0.51%, the company not only demonstrated environmental responsibility but also ensured reliable gas supply for Kuwait’s growing energy needs.

In addition, exploration efforts expanded Kuwait’s hydrocarbon frontier. The Noukhatha-1 well confirmed Kuwait’s first offshore light oil discovery, producing 2,800 bpd of oil and 7 MMscfd of gas. Furthermore, the Jlai’a field discovery advances offshore development, with nine additional locations identified for evaluation. Onshore exploration in Marrat, Najmah-Sargelu, Minagish, and Zubair formations strengthened resource replacement and long-term production sustainability.

Digital transformation remains central to KOC’s strategy. Therefore, smart field technologies, AI, and advanced analytics optimize predictive maintenance, reservoir forecasting, and drilling. Additionally, real-time monitoring and a centralized command center improve decision-making, risk management, and operational resilience.

KOC also pursued organizational excellence by aligning upstream functions under unified leadership streams. Consequently, cross-functional integration accelerated project delivery and improved performance accountability. Furthermore, innovation and digital enablement enhance efficiency and long-term value creation.

Sustainability and environmental leadership remain priorities. Thus, KOC reduced CO₂ emissions by 16,000 tons, implemented environmental remediation, and developed green belts to rehabilitate Kuwait’s landscape. The company also established a decarbonization roadmap supporting national climate commitments.

Finally, human capital development underpins KOC’s success. Through structured training programs, field simulations, international partnerships, and talent acceleration initiatives, the company cultivates skilled, agile, and safety-conscious employees. These efforts empower Kuwait’s youth and ensure a capable workforce for the future.

Under CEO Ahmad Jaber Al-Eidan, Kuwait Oil Company has achieved record production milestones, strengthened reserves, advanced offshore exploration, and integrated sustainability with operational excellence. Therefore, KOC remains a leader in driving Kuwait’s energy transition and securing long-term energy security.
