Qatar air taxi reached a historic milestone with the nation’s first unmanned eVTOL urban flight, marking a major step in smart and sustainable mobility. This trial highlights Qatar’s drive to adopt advanced transportation technologies.
To begin with, the trial occurred at Katara Cultural Village in Doha, with Minister of Transport H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani and Chairman of Qatar Tourism H E Saad bin Ali Al Kharji in attendance. Several senior officials also observed the demonstration, underlining its national importance.
Importantly, the flight is part of a series of tests conducted by the Ministry of Transport (MoT). These tests focus on the technical, operational, and safety aspects of autonomous urban air mobility systems.
The unmanned eVTOL flight operated between the Old Doha Port and the Katara Cultural Village. It used AI-driven navigation and required no direct human control, demonstrating safe operations in urban airspace.
