Emirates 777X order reached a major milestone at Dubai Airshow 2025, as the airline confirmed the purchase of 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft. The deal, valued at $38 billion, reinforces Emirates’ strategy to modernize its fleet and strengthen global operations.
Following the announcement, the order aligns with Emirates’ plan to expand long-haul connectivity and elevate passenger experience. Additionally, the airline secured 130 more GE9X engines from GE Aerospace. Furthermore, the deal supports Boeing’s ongoing feasibility study for the larger 777-10 aircraft.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, said the new 777-9 aircraft fit seamlessly into the airline’s long-term growth strategy. He emphasized that maintaining a modern fleet and introducing innovative cabin products remain central to operations.
Emirates already leads the world as the largest operator of Boeing 777 aircraft and the top customer for GE9X engines. Consequently, the airline’s total Boeing widebody order book rises to 315 aircraft, including 270 Boeing 777X, 10 777 freighters, and 35 Boeing 787 jets.
The first 777-9 deliveries are scheduled for the second quarter of 2027. Emirates plans to integrate the aircraft carefully to maximize efficiency and passenger comfort. Moreover, the airline retains the option to convert part of the order into 777-10 or 777-8 models in the future.
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, noted that Emirates strengthens its fleet and global network through the 777X program. She added that their 40-year partnership demonstrates shared long-term vision and mutual trust.
Russell Stokes, President and CEO of Commercial Engines & Services at GE Aerospace, confirmed that the GE9X engines will support Emirates’ fleet expansion and operational reliability. He also highlighted that the partnership advances aviation technology and global connectivity.
Over its history, Emirates has operated every Boeing 777 model. Currently, the airline flies 119 777-300ER, 10 777-200LR, and 11 777F aircraft. These planes connect Dubai to more than 140 destinations worldwide, supporting trade, tourism, and economic activity across six continents.
The Emirates 777X order will involve deliveries through 2038. Additionally, the production activates technical expertise and manufacturing skills across multiple U.S. states. These states include Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, and Washington.
The Emirates 777X order strengthens the airline’s global leadership, improves fleet efficiency, and ensures Dubai remains a central aviation hub. The deal also signals continued investment in advanced aerospace technology and strategic growth.
