Abu Dhabi Launches Green Buses on Route No. 65

Abu Dhabi has launched eco-friendly green buses on Route No. 65 to promote sustainable public transportation. Starting March 15, 2025, this initiative will reduce carbon emissions and help protect the environment.

Route No. 65 connects Marina Mall to Al Reem Island, covering over 2,000 km each day and carrying approximately 6,000 passengers daily. This makes it one of the busiest routes in the city. By introducing green buses, Abu Dhabi Mobility aims to cut down on harmful emissions significantly.

The green buses will operate using hydrogen and electric energy, which will ensure zero emissions. This is a key part of Abu Dhabi Mobility’s strategy to make the city’s public transport greener. The company plans to convert 50% of the city’s buses to green alternatives by 2030. As a result, they expect to reduce daily carbon emissions by 200 tonnes, equivalent to taking 14,700 cars off the road.

The green buses are equipped with advanced technology like hydrogen fuel cells and electric batteries. These features will cut down on energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Abu Dhabi Mobility also plans to expand the use of these buses to other popular routes. For example, Route 160, which connects Capital Park with Khalifa City, and Route A2, which links Abu Dhabi City to Zayed International Airport, will also run on green buses.

This initiative is part of a larger plan to make Abu Dhabi a more sustainable and environmentally friendly city. By introducing green buses, Abu Dhabi Mobility is taking a significant step in promoting eco-friendly transport solutions.
