Business Registrations Surge in Saudi Arabia and Drive Economic Growth

Saudi Arabia’s business registrations are surging, reflecting the Kingdom’s rapidly expanding commercial landscape. By the end of the third quarter of 2025, registrations surpassed 1.7 million. The Ministry of Commerce reported that over 128,000 new commercial records were issued in just three months. Analysts say this surge highlights ongoing efforts to improve ease of doing business. Consequently, the Kingdom is strengthening its position as a regional economic hub.

The ministry’s bulletin showed that institutions accounted for more than 1.2 million registrations, marking a 21 percent rise over five years. Limited liability companies climbed to 502,000, increasing 158 percent, while joint-stock companies reached 4,488, up 49 percent since 2020. These figures indicate growing confidence among investors and entrepreneurs. Moreover, the data shows that reforms under Vision 2030 are effectively encouraging private sector growth.

Reforms such as the new Commercial Register and Trade Names laws streamlined procedures nationwide. The removal of subsidiary registers and city-based requirements simplified registration processes. This approach ensures a single registration is valid across Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, the ministry highlighted promising sectors driving growth, including video game development, augmented reality technologies, logistics, and e-commerce.

E-commerce registrations reached 41,816 by the end of the third quarter, up 5 percent from last year. Registrations for virtual and augmented reality technologies jumped 59 percent, reaching 10,492. The video gaming sector grew 102 percent to 614 licenses, with Riyadh and Makkah recording the highest numbers. App development licenses rose 45 percent to 20,973, led by Riyadh and Makkah.

Registrations for recreation centers increased 40 percent to 6,965, while hospitality licenses grew 91 percent to 11,987. Makkah and Riyadh led in both sectors. Meanwhile, the exhibitions sector saw 43 percent growth, reaching 26,372 registrations. Logistics licenses also rose 49 percent to 22,290. Analysts emphasize that this growth shows the impact of strategic reforms and investor confidence.

Officials say that continued support for startups and private investment will further accelerate Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification. With active reforms, innovative sectors are expanding rapidly, creating new business opportunities. Overall, business registrations are solidifying the Kingdom’s position as a dynamic and resilient economy under Vision 2030.
