Dubai has unveiled a gold dress that has set a new world record, drawing attention from collectors and enthusiasts. The gold dress, officially recognised by Guinness World Records, weighs 10.0812 kilograms and is valued at Dh4.6 million.
The display took place at the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show at Expo Centre Sharjah. Organisers highlighted the dress as a key attraction of the exhibition, celebrating innovation and craftsmanship in the jewellery sector.
Named the “Dubai Dress,” the creation consists of four main components. The golden crown weighs 398 grams, the necklace totals 8,810.60 grams, earrings weigh 134.1 grams, and the “Hiyar” piece comes in at 738.5 grams. Each element reflects precision and intricate artistry, demonstrating the skill of the designers involved.
Furthermore, experts note that gold prices have been rising steadily, and consequently, interest in such extravagant pieces has increased. Spot gold reached $3,765 per ounce, up 0.67 per cent on Wednesday evening. Locally, 24K gold sold at Dh454.25 per gram, 22K at Dh420.5, and 21K at Dh403.25. These figures underscore the increasing value and investment potential of gold jewellery in the region.
Moreover, industry leaders say the record-setting gold dress represents both artistic achievement and economic opportunity. In addition, they believe that such high-profile pieces further promote Dubai as a global hub for luxury craftsmanship and design.
The exhibition organisers emphasised that the gold dress will remain on display throughout the show, giving visitors a chance to experience its size, weight, and unique construction. Attendees can also explore related jewellery innovations and the latest market trends during the event.
Furthermore, collectors and investors view pieces like the gold dress as both symbols of wealth and long-term investment assets. Analysts suggest that, given rising gold prices and growing global demand for unique jewellery, such displays could become more common in the future.
Looking ahead, organisers plan to continue highlighting extraordinary creations that combine artistry, luxury, and investment value. The gold dress sets a benchmark for future exhibits, showing how cultural craftsmanship intersects with market trends. The gold dress not only sets a Guinness World Record but also reinforces Dubai’s status as a leader in the luxury jewellery market.
