Saudi Arabia has confirmed that Saudi Arabia Eid Al-Fitr will fall on Friday, March 20, 2026. Authorities made the announcement after the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted.
The decision means that Thursday will complete the holy month of Ramadan. As a result, Muslims across the Kingdom will celebrate Eid on Friday. In a statement, the Saudi Royal Court said the moon-sighting committee reviewed reports from observatories and courts. However, officials did not confirm any valid sighting of the crescent.
Therefore, authorities declared Thursday as the 30th day of Ramadan. Consequently, Friday marks the first day of Shawwal and the beginning of Eid Al-Fitr. Several countries across the region followed the same announcement. These include the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, and Yemen.
At the same time, the Saudi Supreme Court oversaw the verification process. The court ensured that all reports met strict religious and scientific standards. Officials extended their congratulations to King Salman and Mohammed bin Salman. They also shared greetings with citizens, residents, and Muslims worldwide.
Moreover, authorities prayed for the acceptance of fasting and good deeds. They also expressed hopes for continued security and prosperity across the Kingdom. Earlier, observatories across Saudi Arabia prepared for moon sighting at sunset. However, cloudy conditions affected visibility in many regions.
