Etihad Airways Starts Nonstop Abu Dhabi to Luxembourg Flights, First Middle East Airline on the Route

Etihad Airways began nonstop flights between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg on Wednesday, becoming the first airline from the Middle East to serve the Grand Duchy.

The Abu Dhabi-based carrier will fly the route four times a week using an Airbus A321LR, according to a company statement. The aircraft has two First Suites, 14 Business seats and 144 Economy seats.

Flights operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, Luxembourg broadcaster RTL reported.

The inaugural flight, EY51 from Abu Dhabi, was greeted at Luxembourg Airport with a water cannon salute. Etihad said bookings for the route opened in January 2026.

“2026 has been a year of strong network growth for Etihad, and Luxembourg is a special addition,” said Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways.

Alexander Flassak, Chief Executive Officer of Luxembourg Airport operator lux-Airport, said the route would draw passengers from Luxembourg and neighboring Belgium, France and Germany, with onward connections to Asia.

Etihad said it is opening new routes across the Middle East, Europe, Africa and North America this year, several of them with the A321LR. Its network spans more than 110 destinations, served by a fleet of 130 aircraft.
