Dubai, UAE – Gulf Air fleet has taken a major step forward by confirming the purchase of Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The agreement, signed during Dubai Airshow 2025, reinforces Bahrain’s long-term aviation ambitions and growth strategy.

The deal follows a commitment made during the official U.S. visit of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in July 2025. The strategic acquisition aims to expand Gulf Air’s operational capacity, strengthen long-haul services, and improve passenger comfort.

Khalid Husain Taqi, Chairman of Gulf Air Group, described the signing as a pivotal milestone in modernizing the airline’s fleet. He noted that integrating the 787 Dreamliners will enhance operational efficiency, sustainability, and service quality.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner forms a central component of Gulf Air fleet plans. Renowned for advanced technology, fuel efficiency, and premium cabin features, the aircraft supports both fleet modernization and environmental objectives.

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, praised Gulf Air for expanding its global presence. She emphasized that the 787’s efficiency and passenger comfort align with the airline’s sustainability and operational excellence goals.

In addition, Gulf Air and Boeing signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore localized maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities in Bahrain. This initiative aims to attract technical investment, develop local aviation talent, and strengthen Bahrain’s position as a regional aviation hub.

The confirmed order strengthens Gulf Air fleet resilience and long-term strategy. It also reinforces Bahrain’s role as a leading aviation center in the Gulf, supporting economic diversification and regional connectivity.

Industry experts note that the order signals Gulf Air’s commitment to sustainable growth, modern fleet operations, and expanded international reach. The aircraft will enable the airline to serve global markets more efficiently.

Looking ahead, Gulf Air plans to integrate the 787 Dreamliners gradually. The airline aims to provide passengers with advanced cabin experience, improved operational efficiency, and extended long-haul route coverage.

Overall, the expansion of Gulf Air fleet reflects the airline’s forward-looking strategy and commitment to sustainable, world-class services. It also reinforces Bahrain’s growing global aviation profile and regional leadership.
