Investcorp Raised More Than $7 Billion in Fiscal 2026, Beating Targets Despite the War, Kapoor Says

Investcorp raised more than $7 billion in its financial year ended June 30, beating its fund-raising target despite the war that has disrupted investment activity in the Gulf, Rishi Kapoor, the firm’s chief investment officer and vice chairman, said.

The Bahrain-headquartered alternative asset manager ended June with $64 billion in assets under management, slightly ahead of its $63 billion target, Kapoor told The National in an interview published on Thursday.

A large share of the money came from investors outside the region. More than three quarters of the firm’s fund-raising takes place outside the Gulf, he said.

Investcorp, which is backed by Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Company, aims to raise $7 billion or more again in the current fiscal year.

“It will be a very, very similar pace of fund-raising,” Kapoor said. “If it’s not going to be North American private equity this year, it’s going to be something else.”

Asset growth harder to predict

Kapoor said growth in assets during the 2027 fiscal year was “a bit hard to pin down” because net changes depend on exits and capital calls, which are episodic.

The firm remains on track for its goal of $100 billion in assets under management, he said.

About 90% of Investcorp’s investing activity is in the United States and Europe, according to Kapoor. He described the firm as a conduit for capital and deals flowing both into and out of the Gulf.

Kapoor called the war-driven volatility a short-term disruption for long-term investors. Investcorp is known for early investments in Tiffany & Co and Gucci.

Earlier this week, Investcorp took a significant minority stake in Saudi fire safety company REDA Gulf Holding as part of a consortium led by AlTouq.
