Iraq Achieves Nationwide Police Network Integration

Iraq’s Ministry of Interior has successfully implemented nationwide network integration across all police stations, announced Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari. This digital transformation connects stations and enhances operational efficiency. Moreover, Basra has made remarkable progress in firearm registration. Consequently, the initiative strengthens law enforcement capabilities nationwide.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Shatt al-Arab Police Station in Basra, the minister highlighted the station’s modern design and dedicated automation center. Additionally, the facility provides all necessary amenities for personnel, granting them greater flexibility in their duties. Therefore, police staff can perform efficiently while accessing centralized data and resources.

Al-Shammari emphasized that automation of investigative records is a key component of the digital network. For instance, police commanders, deputies, and the minister can now review cases directly, without delays in implementing judicial decisions. Furthermore, this integration supports faster response times and more effective case management across provinces.

Digital transformation has already contributed to reduced crime rates in Basra. For example, field operations led by the Operations Command and Police Command, along with strengthened emergency patrols, have improved public safety. Additionally, the installation of surveillance cameras and increased public awareness has lowered incidents of violence and criminal activity.

The minister also praised cooperation from local authorities in supporting security forces with essential resources. Moreover, strict measures against tribal disputes involving gunfire have significantly decreased related incidents. This collaboration reinforces a secure environment and builds public confidence in law enforcement.

Regarding firearm control, Al-Shammari explained that dedicated registration sites have been established within police stations. For example, Basra has achieved notable progress in both the city center and northern districts, providing clear data on the types and volume of weapons in circulation. Consequently, the ministry advances its goal of restricting weapons under state supervision while enhancing public safety.

Overall, nationwide network integration reflects Iraq’s commitment to modernizing law enforcement. Additionally, it demonstrates how digital solutions can improve operational efficiency, reduce crime, and strengthen security infrastructure. Therefore, Iraq’s police forces are better equipped to serve the public and uphold the rule of law.
