Iraq Oil Exports to US Reach 6.44 Million Barrels Despite Middle East Disruptions

Strong transatlantic energy flows have pushed Iraq oil exports higher as shipments to the United States remained resilient despite regional disruptions. The figures highlight Iraq’s continued role in supporting global energy demand.

According to data from the US Energy Information Administration, Iraq oil exports to the United States reached 6.44 million barrels in March 2026. This figure reflects a slight decline compared to 6.9 million barrels recorded in February.

Despite the monthly drop, export volumes remained above six million barrels. This level confirms steady demand for Iraqi crude in the US market. It also reflects stable trade ties between the two countries.

Weekly data shows fluctuations in shipment levels throughout March. Iraq exported about 309,000 barrels per day during the first week. Exports then dropped to 113,000 barrels per day in the second week.

Shipments recovered in the third week, reaching 270,000 barrels per day. In the final week, exports declined again to around 140,000 barrels per day. These variations reflect changing logistics and market conditions.

Globally, Iraq’s oil exports reflect as the fifth-largest oil supplier to the United States during the month. It followed major exporters such as Canada, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Venezuela. This ranking highlights Iraq’s consistent position among key energy suppliers.

Regionally, Iraq remained one of the leading Arab exporters to the US. Saudi Arabia held the top position with significantly higher volumes. Meanwhile, Libya contributed only limited shipments during the same period.

In recent years, Iraq oil exports to the United States have shown strong growth. The country has expanded production capacity to meet rising global demand. As a result, monthly export volumes have often reached record levels.

Global energy demand continues to support Iraqi exports. Industrial recovery and economic activity in major markets have increased the need for crude oil. This trend benefits major producers such as Iraq.

At the same time, geopolitical tensions continue to influence oil flows. Ongoing conflict in the Middle East has disrupted some shipping routes. These disruptions create uncertainty in global supply chains.

Nevertheless, Iraq has maintained steady export levels despite these challenges. The country relies heavily on oil revenues to support its economy. Therefore, sustaining exports remains a national priority.

Analysts expect Iraq oil exports to remain sensitive to global conditions. Changes in demand, prices, and regional stability could affect future volumes. However, strong production capacity may help Iraq maintain its position in global markets.

Iraq’s oil exports reflect resilience in a complex energy environment. Continued demand from major consumers like the United States will likely support export stability in the coming months.
