Iraq OPEC production climbs to a leading position as the country secures a top-three ranking under May 2026 quotas. The new figures highlight Iraq’s growing influence in global energy markets.
According to recent data, Iraq will produce about 4.326 million barrels per day in May. This output places the country third among OPEC+ producers. As a result, Iraq strengthens its role within the alliance.
Saudi Arabia will lead production with 10.228 million barrels per day. Russia will follow with 9.699 million barrels per day. These figures confirm their continued dominance in global oil supply.
The United Arab Emirates will produce 3.447 million barrels per day. Kuwait is expected to reach 2.612 million barrels per day. Other producers include Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman.
These targets follow a recent agreement among eight OPEC+ members. The group includes Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, the UAE, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman. They held a virtual meeting on April 5 to review output policy.
During the meeting, members agreed to increase total production by 206,000 barrels per day. This step forms part of a gradual adjustment to earlier voluntary cuts. Therefore, the alliance continues to manage supply carefully.
Moreover, Iraq OPEC production reflects the country’s strong capacity to maintain high output levels. Oil remains the backbone of Iraq’s economy. Consequently, production targets directly affect national revenue.
At the same time, global oil markets remain sensitive to supply decisions. OPEC+ policies often influence prices and investor sentiment. Thus, any increase or cut carries broader economic implications.
Analysts note that steady increases signal confidence in market demand. However, they also warn about potential volatility due to geopolitical risks. Energy markets continue to react quickly to global developments.
Iraq may aim to maintain or expand its production share. Strong output levels could support economic growth and fiscal stability. However, the country must balance production goals with OPEC+ commitments.
Iraq OPEC production underscores the country’s strategic importance in the energy sector. Its position among top producers strengthens its influence within OPEC+. This role will remain crucial as global demand evolves.
