Kuwait continues to highlight the importance of youth leadership in sustainability, as two young citizens earned special recognition. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) honored Othman Al-Jiran and Ghanima Al-Mutawa for their contributions to the environment and sustainable progress.
At a major regional event, leaders celebrated twelve outstanding Gulf youth under the slogan “Gulf Youth: Creativity – Leadership – Achievement.” Among the attendees was Kuwait’s Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi. He expressed strong support for youth initiatives and praised young leaders in sustainability for their ongoing achievements.
To begin with, Othman Al-Jiran, an agricultural engineer and entrepreneur, received praise for his dedication to eco-projects. His work clearly reflects youth leadership in sustainability, as he leads community farming programs and sustainable agriculture projects both inside and outside Kuwait. Additionally, his commitment to greening projects across many Kuwaiti areas highlights the power of youth-led environmental action.
As a result of his achievements, Al-Jiran viewed the honor as motivation to continue his innovative work. Moreover, he thanked the Kuwait Youth Authority and the GCC Secretariat General for encouraging youth leadership in sustainability. Their support, he added, helps him stay focused on developing more green solutions for the future.
Similarly, Ghanima Al-Mutawa received her award for advancing environmental education. She directs Seeds Academy, a platform that promotes sustainable youth leadership through climate action and sustainability training. Furthermore, she supports youth-led projects and encourages students to take part in protecting the environment.
In addition, Al-Mutawa co-launched the Green Development Pioneers Initiative with the Youth Authority. This initiative aims to strengthen youth leadership in sustainability by building awareness and empowering young leaders to act on environmental issues. Through such programs, more young people feel confident in their ability to make meaningful changes.
Al-Mutawa expressed deep appreciation for being recognized. She stated that standing among other Gulf youth leaders gives her the strength to expand her efforts. She also emphasized her goal of helping Kuwait achieve Vision 2035 through education and youth empowerment. Organizations that support youth leadership in sustainability, she said, play a crucial role in building a greener future.
Ultimately, the event showcased how youth leadership in sustainability continues to shape Kuwait’s environmental path. Through innovation, education, and action, young Kuwaitis are driving change and creating long-term impact for their country and the planet.
