Kuwait Sadu Weaving Honored in Sheft El-Kuwait 10th Edition

Kuwait Sadu weaving continues to receive growing recognition as the country prepares for the 10th edition of the Sheft El-Kuwait competition. The Al Sadu Weaving Cooperative Society recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award to boost awareness and preservation of this traditional craft.

This collaboration highlights the importance of blending cultural heritage with digital innovation. Both sides aim to promote Kuwait Sadu weaving by combining technical knowledge and deep cultural understanding.

The upcoming Sheft El-Kuwait competition will launch as part of the award’s silver jubilee celebrations. It will showcase Sadu weaving’s role as one of Kuwait’s oldest and most treasured traditions. This year, the event takes on special meaning, coinciding with Kuwait City being named a “World City of Sadu Weaving” by the World Crafts Council.

Sheikha Bibi Duaij Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, chairwoman of the Al Sadu Weaving Cooperative Society, signed the agreement alongside Sheikh Salem Athbi Al-Sabah, General Supervisor of Sheft El-Kuwait 10. Both emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional partnerships to support Kuwait’s cultural legacy.

According to Sheikha Bibi, this collaboration supports the spread of cultural understanding using modern tools. She praised the Informatics Award’s role in using digital transformation to promote national traditions. In addition, she acknowledged the efforts of the award organizers and wished them continued success.

Sheikh Salem explained that the competition serves to spread awareness of Kuwait Sadu weaving across local and global platforms. The contest will engage people through social media channels, such as Instagram and X. The event will run for 10 days and invite public participation through interactive content and educational media.

Since its launch in Kuwait, Sheft El-Kuwait has gained a reputation for supporting creative and cultural projects. Each edition aims to connect the community with Kuwait’s rich heritage. The 10th edition will offer prizes and encourage people of all ages to learn about traditional crafts.

Through this competition, Kuwait Sadu weaving will gain more exposure and continue to inspire younger generations. The initiative aligns with national goals to protect heritage while embracing modern tools.

Sheikh Salem noted that the Informatics Award has supported many cultural and educational initiatives since its beginning. He stressed the importance of using every opportunity to preserve national identity.

By supporting Sadu weaving, Kuwait continues to lead in cultural promotion and innovation. Events like Sheft El-Kuwait reflect the country’s dedication to honoring history while building the future.
