Mubadala Bio Partners With Marcyrl to Make Women’s Health and Respiratory Medicines in the UAE

Mubadala Bio, the life sciences arm of Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Company, has signed a partnership with Marcyrl Pharmaceutical Industries to localize a portfolio of women’s health, fertility and respiratory medicines in the UAE.

Dr. Essam Mohamed, Group Chief Executive Officer of Mubadala Bio, and Dr. George Saad, Chief Executive Officer of Marcyrl Group, signed the agreement at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit on Wednesday, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The women’s health portfolio covers fertility, pregnancy and childbirth, as well as treatments for common gynecological and hormonal conditions.

The respiratory range includes metered dose inhalers, dry powder inhalers, nebulization solutions and nasal sprays for acute and chronic conditions.

Both portfolios will be localized and distributed in the UAE, and more products are expected to be added over time. The companies did not disclose financial terms.

Mohamed said women’s health is a priority therapy area for Mubadala Bio. Saad said the partnership would expand access to medicines in the UAE and across the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The deal is the latest in a series Mubadala Bio has announced at the summit. On Tuesday it agreed with Eli Lilly to package GLP-1 medicines in Abu Dhabi, and its IDS unit signed a distribution partnership with GSK on Wednesday.
