Muscat Municipality has awarded contracts for seven residential parks, marking a significant step toward greener, healthier neighborhoods. The initiative aims to enhance urban landscapes, provide modern amenities, and improve residents’ quality of life.
The awarding of contracts took place at the Municipality headquarters in Darsait. Eng. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Amri, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, led the Internal Tenders Committee meeting. During the session, officials approved projects across several wilayats as part of the municipality’s annual plan. Consequently, residents can expect new and upgraded parks in their communities soon.
The projects include the rehabilitation of Wadi Al Kabir Park, which covers 2,363 square meters. It will feature children’s play areas, shaded zones, seating, and improved lighting. Similarly, Al Khiran Village Park, spanning 5,878 square meters, will undergo upgrades to enhance its facilities.
In addition, the Municipality approved the construction of a new residential park in Al Amerat, covering 8,750 square meters. This park will offer a multi-purpose sports court, shaded spaces, children’s playgrounds, and proper lighting. Meanwhile, two parks in Al Maabela, spanning 7,417 and 10,091 square meters, will provide seating areas, play zones, multi-purpose courts, and shaded spaces. Notably, one of these parks will include a café and public restrooms.
Furthermore, the projects also cover Qurayyat Park, measuring 7,698 square meters, and Al Rawiyah Park in Muscat, which will feature green spaces, seating areas, and a children’s play zone. Together, these projects aim to increase green coverage across Muscat while enhancing the visual appeal of residential neighborhoods.
Eng. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Amri commented on the initiative, saying, “The implementation of residential neighborhood park projects reflects Muscat Municipality’s commitment to enhancing urban areas and providing modern infrastructure. Moreover, these projects support Oman Vision 2040 goals for human-centred cities and expanded green spaces.”
He added, “The Municipality ensures optimal use of land while delivering sustainable services for all residents. In addition, our green projects contribute to community well-being, encourage active lifestyles, and create vibrant public spaces.”
Through Muscat Residential Parks, the municipality demonstrates its dedication to sustainable urban development. Therefore, the projects will strengthen social cohesion, promote healthy living, and provide public facilities that serve all segments of society. Ultimately, residents can look forward to a greener, more attractive, and community-focused city.
