NMC Healthcare Commits AED150 Million to Expand Abu Dhabi Hospitals and Clinics

NMC Healthcare Group has announced an AED150 million ($41 million) investment in its facilities and footprint across Abu Dhabi, the private UAE hospital operator said on Wednesday.

The program includes new medical centers and upgrades to existing facilities. It comes a year after NMC launched a corporate strategy built on portfolio expansion, asset optimization, operational improvements and service line growth, the company said.

Several parts of the program have already been delivered. They include new clinics in Al Riyad City and Yas Mall, a day care center at NMC Specialty Hospital Abu Dhabi, and the NMC Mowj Child Development Medical Complex.

The Mowj complex was set up with the Zayed Authority for People of Determination and the National Academy for Childhood Development. It assesses children aged up to eight for possible neurological disabilities and is designated as an autism treatment hub.

NMC is also developing a new urgent care center at NMC Royal Hospital Abu Dhabi.

The next phase centers on Royal Hospital Khalifa City. Over five years, the redevelopment will add more than 20 inpatient beds and 20 outpatient consultation and treatment rooms, the company said.

The hospital’s emergency department will be expanded to more than 40 treatment bays. The plan also covers the maternity units, pediatric department and new orthopedics and physiotherapy departments.

“These investments are part of a long-term programme to strengthen and expand our healthcare network,” Chief Executive Officer David Hadley said in a statement carried by Zawya.

“Through expanding specialist services, increasing capacity and investing in modern healthcare infrastructure, we are supporting the UAE’s vision to create a world-class healthcare ecosystem,” he said.
