NXplorers Pro programme, part of Qatar Shell’s Tafawoq initiative, recently engaged students from Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and Education City campuses in a hands-on learning experience. The programme equips participants with practical tools to tackle complex global challenges. Moreover, it combines systems thinking, scenario planning, and theory of change, collectively known as NXthinking.
At HBKU, students explored real-world problems. In addition, they envisioned sustainable futures and designed actionable solutions. Their energy and creativity demonstrated the value of experiential learning in shaping future changemakers. Consequently, students gained practical experience in problem-solving and innovation, preparing them for professional challenges.
Dr Ala al-Fuqaha, HBKU’s associate provost for Teaching and Learning, highlighted the programme’s impact: “At HBKU, we are proud to continue our collaboration with Qatar Shell and its Tafawoq programme. NXplorers Pro empowers students to address critical challenges. Furthermore, it combines insight, creativity, and practical application. Therefore, the programme reinforces our commitment to preparing future leaders for sustainable impact.”
Additionally, Bader al-Jaidah, director of Tafawoq, explained the programme bridges academia and industry. “By engaging with universities, we help students understand how industry functions before they begin their careers. Our partnership with HBKU also shows the transformative power of collaboration in shaping a sustainable future,” he said.
Participants praised the practical approach of NXplorers Pro. For example, Pia Ceasar, a graduate student at HBKU, shared: “The programme combines insight with practical application. It sharpened my critical thinking and gave me frameworks to structure ideas. As a result, I can now navigate complex challenges in both professional and personal contexts.”
Tafawoq, Qatar Shell’s centre of excellence in project management, supports major investment projects across Qatar and the region. Moreover, it contributes to the Qatar National Vision 2030 by developing highly skilled professionals capable of driving sustainable economic and social development.
Through NXplorers Pro programme, students enhance problem-solving, leadership, and future-focused skills. They learn to innovate, think critically, and collaborate effectively. In doing so, the programme ensures participants are prepared to contribute meaningfully to Qatar’s vision for a sustainable and resilient future.
