Oman has signed an agreement to implement the third phase of the Ibri Solar Energy Project in Al Dhahirah Governorate. The project carries an investment of OMR 115 million. It will use advanced battery storage to supply electricity to around 33,000 homes. Consequently, authorities say this initiative represents a major step in meeting rising energy demands while promoting renewable energy.
Engineer Salem bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy, attended the signing ceremony. Additionally, senior representatives from Nama for Electricity and Water Procurement participated. The project has a total capacity of 500 megawatts. Furthermore, officials highlighted that this is Oman’s first large-scale solar project with integrated battery storage. Therefore, it aims to provide a reliable electricity supply and increase energy efficiency.
