Pandrol and Saudi Arabia’s Links Investments to Build Rail Fastening Plant in Riyadh, Targeting Production in 2027

Rail fastening systems maker Pandrol will launch an industrial platform in Riyadh with Riyadh-based Links Investments to manufacture rail fastening components in Saudi Arabia, the company said, according to Rail Business Daily.

Pandrol aims to begin production in the first half of 2027 and will initially serve Saudi rail projects.

The company said the facility could also become a platform to support rail development across the wider Gulf Cooperation Council region.

The plant is designed to support Saudi Arabia’s rail program under Vision 2030. Central to those plans is a network of more than 8,000 kilometers connecting the kingdom’s eastern, western and northern borders.

Pandrol said it would place a strong emphasis on local content across the supply chain. Financial terms and the size of the facility were not disclosed.

“Saudi Arabia is undertaking one of the most significant rail development programmes anywhere in the world and we are proud to be playing our part in it,” said Guy Talbourdet, chief executive of Pandrol. “Establishing manufacturing in Riyadh brings Pandrol’s rail fastenings closer to this major growth area for rail.”

Talbourdet said Links Investments brings a deep understanding of the Saudi rail sector. The partners plan to build a local supply chain that creates skills and value within the kingdom, he said.
