POS spending in Saudi Arabia rose sharply before Eid, climbing 33% to SR15.5 billion. This surge in transactions reflects a strong rise in consumer demand across all sectors.
Clothing and footwear spending led the way. This category jumped 72.7% in value, hitting SR1.2 billion. At the same time, the number of transactions soared 61.6%, reaching 8.6 million.
Next, the education sector saw a similar boost. Transaction value increased 61.6%, reaching SR242.1 million. Meanwhile, POS spending iSaudi Arabia telecommunications followed closely. Spending rose 44.5% to SR136.2 million, with 2.1 million transactions recorded.
In addition, food and beverages remained the largest category by value. This sector grew 34.2% and reached SR2.2 billion in total spending. It held the biggest slice of POS spending in Saudi Arabia.
Restaurants and cafes also saw significant growth. They claimed the second-largest spending share, totaling SR2 billion after rising by 24.3%.
Transportation services followed with a 29.7% increase, totaling SR898.8 million. Although not the top sector, transportation showed steady gains.
Health-related purchases increased 28.4%, with spending reaching SR952.8 million. Public utility payments also rose, up 29.1% to SR55.3 million.
Additionally, POS spending Saudi Arabia Electronics spending climbed 23.1%, hitting SR187.2 million. Recreation and culture posted a 42.5% jump, totaling SR324.3 million.
Hotels experienced modest growth of 9%, with spending reaching SR207.5 million. Construction and building materials increased slightly more, at 12.9%, to SR267.6 million.
One standout was miscellaneous goods and services. This category jumped 34.4% in value, reaching SR1.9 billion. It became the third-largest category by transaction value.
Together, the top three categories, food and beverages, miscellaneous goods and services, and clothing and footwear, made up 39.9% of POS spending in Saudi Arabia. Combined, they totaled SR6.2 billion during the week.
This broad increase in spending across sectors shows high consumer activity. As Eid approached, demand climbed in both essential and non-essential categories.
People across Saudi Arabia spent more on clothing, meals, and gifts. Their purchases boosted businesses and reflected economic confidence.
With such widespread growth, POS spending in Saudi Arabia may continue rising in future festive periods.
