Qatar Launches Major Roads Infrastructure Project in Umm Slal Mohammed West

The roads infrastructure project in Umm Slal Mohammed West has been launched, marking a major step in urban development. Ashghal announced the initiative with an investment exceeding one billion Qatari Riyals. The authority plans to improve internal road networks and modernize infrastructure systems. Analysts note that this development will enhance safety and support sustainable urban growth. Consequently, residents and businesses in the area will benefit from better connectivity and services.

Eng. Noor Ashkanani, Project Engineer at Ashghal’s Roads Projects Department, explained that the project will directly benefit around 747 citizen land plots. The plan establishes an internal road network connecting key public facilities and major roads, including Al Mazrouah Road. It also delivers sewage and rainwater drainage systems to accommodate population growth and commercial expansion. Ashkanani emphasized that these infrastructure upgrades will improve living standards and encourage future development.

The project will construct 36.5 kilometers of internal roads, install over 1,200 street lighting poles, and place road signs and markings. Additionally, workers will build 73 kilometers of pedestrian pathways, 12 kilometers of cycling tracks, and 5,000 parking spaces. Landscaping will cover 385,000 square meters, enhancing the environment. Ashghal will also expand a 27-kilometer sewage network, an 83-kilometer stormwater and groundwater drainage system, 38 kilometers of potable water pipelines, and 24 kilometers of treated wastewater network.

The site spans approximately 3.18 million square meters between Al Mazrouah Road and Umm Slal North Road. Ashghal divided the area into four zones to accelerate construction and reduce disruptions. Officials expect phased development to ensure smooth progress and timely completion.

Urban planners said the roads infrastructure project demonstrates Ashghal’s commitment to improving transportation, safety, and public amenities. They also noted that the project supports Qatar’s broader vision for sustainable urban growth. Experts predict the project will attract further investments, boost commercial activity, and enhance residents’ quality of life. Over the coming years, this initiative will set a benchmark for infrastructure projects nationwide.
