Erbil, Iraq: Oman’s low-cost airline SalamAir will launch direct flights between Muscat and Erbil on October 25, 2026. The new route will strengthen the airline’s presence in Iraq and expand travel options between Oman and the Kurdistan Region.
SalamAir has already opened ticket sales for the new service. The airline will operate two flights per week between Muscat and Erbil.
One-way Lite fares will start at around $143, equivalent to approximately 187,000 Iraqi dinars. However, fares may vary depending on booking dates, availability, and additional services.
The new route will make Erbil SalamAir’s second destination in Iraq. The airline currently operates flights between Muscat and Baghdad.
SalamAir expects the Erbil service to support growing demand for business, tourism, trade, and family travel. Furthermore, the route will provide passengers with another convenient connection between Oman and the Kurdistan Region.
Passengers travelling from Erbil will also gain access to SalamAir’s wider network through Muscat. The Omani capital serves as an important connecting point for destinations across India and other parts of Asia.
SalamAir Chief Commercial Officer Steven Allen described Iraq as an important market for the airline. He said the Erbil route could help meet growing regional demand while strengthening Muscat’s position as a connecting hub.
The new service will also give Erbil International Airport another international connection. Meanwhile, the growing number of regional airlines serving the city reflects increasing demand for international travel.
The expansion comes as business and tourism activity continues to develop across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Consequently, additional air connections could support stronger economic and tourism links between Iraq and Gulf countries.
The Muscat-Erbil route could also make travel easier for passengers who previously needed connecting flights through other regional airports. As a result, travellers may benefit from greater choice and more convenient connections.
