SalamAir to Start Muscat Flights to Erbil and Damascus as Network Grows to More Than 46 Destinations

Oman’s low-cost carrier SalamAir will begin direct flights from Muscat to Erbil in Iraq on Oct. 25 and to Damascus on Oct. 28, the airline said at a ceremony at Muscat International Airport, TradeArabia reported.

The Erbil service will run twice a week. It will be SalamAir’s second destination in Iraq after Baghdad.

SalamAir will be the first Omani airline to operate the Muscat to Damascus route.

Chief Executive Officer Yaqoob Al Kiyumi said the two routes are the airline’s seventh and eighth new destinations this year, taking its network to more than 46 destinations. “Our fleet has grown to 18 aircraft,” he said.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shamakhi, undersecretary at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and chairman of SalamAir.

Haitham bin Nasser bin Said Al Tai, acting chief executive of Oman Airports, said the new services expand the network of destinations served from Muscat International Airport.

SalamAir opened ticket sales for the Erbil route in August, with one-way fares starting at OMR54.99, the airline said at the time.

The government of Oman completed its majority ownership of SalamAir in February 2026. The airline plans to grow its fleet to 25 aircraft by 2028, according to the company.
