Four Saudi companies have signed agreements with the Syrian Petroleum Company to develop oil and gas fields in Syria. These deals, supervised by the Saudi Ministry of Energy, mark a key milestone in Saudi-Syrian energy cooperation.
The agreements, signed on Tuesday, involve TAQA, ADES Holding, Arabian Drilling, and the Arabian Geophysical and Surveying Company (ARGAS). They cover services, technical support, and development across multiple oil and gas sites.
The agreements build on previous cooperation frameworks, including memoranda of understanding signed on August 28. Additionally, they follow technical workshops and field visits to key gas fields and related facilities in Syria.
Under the first deal, ADES Holding and the Syrian Petroleum Company agreed on the development, operation, and production of gas fields. Furthermore, the agreement outlines core principles for a final technical services contract. It targets production growth in Abu Rabah, Qamqam, North Al-Faydh, Al-Tiyas, Zumlat al-Mahar, and potentially other areas.
Meanwhile, TAQA signed a master service agreement with the Syrian Petroleum Company to provide integrated solutions for oil and gas construction and maintenance. The contract aims to enhance operational efficiency and increase production using advanced technologies and modern equipment.
Similarly, ARGAS signed a master service agreement to supply 2D and 3D seismic surveying and related technical support. Consequently, this collaboration sets a long-term framework to strengthen exploration, drilling, and technical operations in Syria’s energy sector. It also ensures rapid response, operational flexibility, and timely project initiation.
The fourth agreement involves Arabian Drilling Company, which will provide drilling and workover services for oil and gas wells. Additionally, the company will lease and operate onshore rigs, deliver operational support, and train local workforce personnel.
Officials from both countries attended the signing ceremony, emphasizing the strategic importance of these agreements. Moreover, experts say the collaboration reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting regional energy projects and strengthening economic ties with Syria.
Looking ahead, the agreements are expected to boost production, enhance operational efficiency, and accelerate the modernization of Syria’s oil and gas infrastructure. Furthermore, these deals underscore the growing role of Saudi firms in regional energy development initiatives.
