UAE Opens Bookings for New Etihad Airways Route to Medan

Etihad Airways has officially opened bookings for a new direct route to Medan, Indonesia. This exciting addition will connect Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi with Kualanamu International Airport in Medan. The first flight is scheduled for October 2, 2025. Travelers can now plan their trips to this vibrant destination.

The airline will operate this route three times a week using the advanced Airbus A321LR aircraft. Flights from Abu Dhabi, designated as EY480, will leave at 8:45 PM and arrive in Medan at 6:45 AM. Return flights from Medan, EY481, will take off at 8:45 AM and reach Abu Dhabi at 12:40 PM. These schedules allow convenient connections for travelers heading to Europe.

Medan, the capital of North Sumatra, is famous for its rich culture, diverse food, and historical sites. Etihad Airways aims to offer a smooth travel experience for visitors. The new route to Medan provides a direct link, making travel easier for many passengers.

This year, Etihad Airways has already announced 14 new destinations, with more on the way. Other cities joining the network from July 2025 include Atlanta, Taipei, Phnom Penh, Krabi, Tunis, Chiang Mai, Hong Kong, Hanoi, and Algiers. The airline is focused on creating faster connections, especially between Asia and Europe.

Etihad Airways expects 2025 to be its biggest year yet. The airline plans to double passenger numbers compared to last year. With over 90 destinations, Etihad continues expanding its global network.

The airline currently operates 95 aircraft and serves around 18 to 19 million passengers annually. Next year, the fleet will grow to 115 planes. This expansion highlights Etihad’s commitment to better service and increased connectivity.

Recent reports suggest that Etihad Airways may launch a $1 billion initial public offering (IPO) soon. This move could further strengthen the airline’s financial position.
