The United Arab Emirates is making bold moves in artificial intelligence and cloud computing. The Abu Dhabi government has partnered with Microsoft and Core42, a company under G42, to build a sovereign cloud system. This new system will improve digital services and boost efficiency.
The sovereign cloud system will support more than 11 million daily digital interactions. The agreement was signed with key leaders present, including Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Khaldoon Al Mubarak. Ahmed Tamim Hisham Al Kuttab, Chairman of the Department of Government Enablement, signed alongside Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and G42 CEO Peng Xiao.
Abu Dhabi aims to become the world’s first fully AI-native government by 2027. This project is part of the Abu Dhabi Government Digital Strategy 2025-2027. The government has committed Dh13 billion ($3.54 billion) to develop digital infrastructure. Over 200 AI-powered solutions will be introduced to improve public services.
“This agreement will change how government services work,” said Ahmed Al Kuttab. “By combining Microsoft’s cloud technology with G42’s AI skills, we are creating a strong platform.”
Satya Nadella emphasized the importance of this step. “AI will change government operations everywhere, and Abu Dhabi is leading the way,” he said.
One major innovation is TAMM 3.0, the government services app. It has already reduced in-person visits by 90% and made 73% of transactions instant.
Peng Xiao highlighted the focus on data security. “With Core42’s sovereign cloud system, government data remains secure while using the latest AI technology,” he said.
This partnership marks a major shift in Abu Dhabi’s digital future. The sovereign cloud system will improve services and ensure a high level of security.
