Kuwait’s Cabinet has directed the Ministry of Public Works to accelerate the Gulf railway and rapid transport projects. This step is critical for the country’s infrastructure development and regional connectivity. Furthermore, it underscores Kuwait’s commitment to improving transport networks and strengthening GCC collaboration.
The Cabinet met on Wednesday at Bayan Palace, chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah. During the meeting, officials reviewed key correspondence from friendly and regional countries. They also discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and expand economic cooperation.
Additionally, the Cabinet commended Kuwait’s role at the 46th GCC Supreme Council session in Bahrain. Leaders highlighted GCC resilience amid regional and international challenges. They emphasized that unity and collaboration remain essential for peace and stability. Moreover, Kuwait’s maritime boundary agreement with Iraq was recognized as a significant achievement.
Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya briefed the Cabinet on the final communiqué of the 46th GCC session. The communiqué stressed GCC security unity and coordination. It also welcomed Kuwait’s hosting of the Third Arab-Chinese Summit in 2030. Furthermore, the communiqué acknowledged Kuwait’s success in judicial, legal, and legislative cooperation and its recognition as Capital of Arab Culture and Media for 2025.
On the digital services front, Minister of State for Communications Omar Saud Al-Omar reported that the unified government application, Sahel, received recognition from the League of Arab States. Consequently, the Cabinet praised the collaborative efforts of 42 government entities. They also emphasized the initiative’s role in improving services and accessibility for citizens and residents.
The Minister of Justice, Nasser Yousef Al-Sumait, announced that the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) won the Arab Government Excellence Award for its integrity strategy. Therefore, the Cabinet commended Nazaha officials and reiterated support for initiatives that safeguard public funds and strengthen government accountability.
Regarding infrastructure, the Cabinet reviewed the Kuwait-GCC railway project. Phase 1, including preliminary designs for passenger, freight, maintenance, and transit stations, is complete. Moving forward, the Ministry of Public Works must continue implementation and provide quarterly reports with updates, timelines, and recommendations.
In addition, the Cabinet advanced the Cultural Trail project in Kuwait City. The trail will connect 66 historical and cultural landmarks across 11 kilometers from the Peace Palace Museum to Al Shaheed Park. Moreover, the Ministry of Information will coordinate implementation and report progress quarterly.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the minutes of the Higher Committee Gulf Railway for the Kuwaiti Citizenship Verification. This covered citizenship loss and withdrawal cases under Law No. 15 of 1959 and its amendments. Finally, other agenda items were approved, while certain matters were referred to relevant ministerial committees for further review.
