Dhofar roads project drives a major transformation in Oman’s infrastructure sector as the governorate prepares for large-scale road expansions in 2026. Engineers continue work on the Mughsail road and bridge project in Salalah. Additionally, the project has reached more than 81 percent completion. Moreover, it features a 12-meter-high concrete bridge and modern parking facilities. It also includes a pedestrian walkway with lighting systems. Furthermore, landscaping and tunnels improve access to the Mughsail beachfront and nearby attractions.
Dhofar roads project also advances the dualisation of Sultan Said bin Taimur Road. In particular, construction spans phases three, four, and five of the corridor. Meanwhile, these sections stretch from Haima through Muqshin toward Thumrait. Consequently, the route covers nearly 400 kilometers of strategic highway development. At present, completion levels range between 17 and 22 percent.
Authorities continue to plan additional roadworks across remote and coastal areas. For instance, upcoming projects include the Rakhyut to Dhalkut coastal road. Moreover, planners design a 6-kilometer mountain road linking Rakhyut with Safqut and Hawta. Similarly, the Rakhyut-Ashqul route enters the development pipeline.
