Abu Dhabi-based health group M42 plans to develop Mubadala Health Bahrain, a multidisciplinary healthcare facility at Bahrain Bay, after signing an agreement with the Future Generation Reserve (FGR), a Bahraini government fund.
The agreement secures a seafront site in Bahrain Bay for the facility, M42 said in a statement on Tuesday. The deal was signed at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The facility will be M42’s second in Bahrain. It is being developed through a joint venture between M42 and HealthVision, its Bahraini partner.
Mubadala Health Bahrain will offer services across 20 specialties, including six surgical inpatient specialties at launch. It is expected to employ about 200 people, with a focus on hiring Bahraini nationals.
Planned services include cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and neurology, along with longevity, precision medicine and genomics programs, the company said. It did not give an opening date.
The FGR was set up under Bahrain’s Ministry of Finance and National Economy. The facility will be located in the fund’s Future Generations Reserve Tower in Bahrain Bay.
“Bahrain is an important part of M42’s regional growth strategy and our ambition to expand access to world-class healthcare,” said Dimitris Moulavasilis, group chief executive officer of M42.
Sheikh Ali bin Salman Al Khalifa, chief executive officer of the FGR, said the agreement supported Bahrain’s position as a destination for high-quality investment.
M42 was formed in 2023 when G42 Healthcare and Mubadala Health combined. It has more than 480 facilities in 26 countries and over 20,000 employees, including Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and Moorfields Eye Hospital Abu Dhabi.
